Patient Journey

1

Book an appointment online or by telephone.

2

You will be emailed a questionnaire about yourself, your medical history, and your symptoms.

3

When you book your initial consultation with us, we won’t ask you to fill out reams of paperwork or online questionnaires – that’s what part of your consultation is for. Before your consultation, a team member will book you in and send you a confirmation of the appointment. We ask you to complete one form with your full name, DOB, address, and GP information. We will also request that you send any of your results from any relevant tests or investigations that you have done or bring them with you to your clinic appointment.

4

Prior to your appointment - Write down any questions you wish to ask at your consultation. Check your blood pressure, height in cm and weight in kg, making any necessary prescribing quicker. Ask for your GP to print off any recent blood tests or other investigations so we can look through them at your appointment.

5

When you arrive at our clinic, you will be offered a drink and taken through to your consultation. The clinician will take your medical history and begin by discussing your symptoms with you.

6

Following your first appointment, write down any side effects of medications and monitor your symptoms.

7

Your initial consultation is booked for an 45 minutes – this should allow ample time for our clinician to discuss your concerns and answer any questions you may have. They will discuss various options and may refer you for further testing. Before your appointment, our team will send a fee list to you for additional testing – all our pricing is transparent. Depending on the clinician’s recommendations, you can either have the tests carried out at the end of your consultation or think about it before rebooking. There is no pressure.

8

If any further tests are required such as a blood test or scan, we will arrange this for you, with our Specialist Nurse here at Abbey Menopause, on a separate date.

9

Think about your lifestyle and consider whether you would benefit from a well-woman check and lifestyle consult.

10

We recommend a follow-up at three months initially.

11

Before your follow-up, complete the symptom questionnaire that will be emailed to you so that we can monitor how your symptoms are improving and adjust your treatment accordingly.

12

We strong recommend annual reviews whilst you are on HRT.
